Need help with my History question – I’m studying for my class.

For your third essay, you will analyze the 1964 political advertisement, “A Time for Choosing,” given by then actor and General Electric spokesperson, Ronald Reagan. Reagan’s speech is in support of conservative presidential candidate, Senator Barry Goldwater. Though Goldwater went onto lose the election to President Lyndon Johnson, this speech is considered by many to be Reagan’s first real foray into national politics, and would propel him into the national political spotlight. Leading both to his election as Governor of California, then President of the United States.

Your essay must be a minimum of two complete double-spaced pages with 12-point, Times New Roman font. It should be written in a comprehensive MLA format with an introduction, thesis statement, specific examples (this does not mean large quotes from the text), and a conclusion. It should not include any outside sources other than lecture notes and the textbook without prior approval.

Your essay should do the following:

1. Place the document within the larger historical context it was a part of
2. Identify and explain the main parts of Reagan’s argument
3. Analyze, with specifics, Reagan’s understanding of the nation and the circumstances it faced in 1964
