I don’t know how to handle this History question and need guidance.
In this discussion assignment you are become a member of the Caesar Chavez organization and to write a study of his life, times, organization and successes to show that Caesar Chavez day in California is a well deserved tribute to this minority leader. This is the official web site of the United Farm Workers: it gives us some excellent material on the life and work of Chavez. It shares some of his speeches and even has a movie to view: http://www.ufw.org/. Here are more sites on the life and times and work of Chavez: http://castle.eiu.edu/~wow/classes/fa03/cclinks.html (Links to an external site.) and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cesar_Chavez (Links to an external site.) and http://www.gavilan.edu/library/chavez.html
Finally you are going to comment on whether you feel that the border situation is improving today and agree or disagree with two other students. Good luck.

Hello Everyone, I am going to tell you about an organization that I have recently joined; it is called the “Cesar Chavez foundation”. This organization was created and led by a farmer named Caesar Chavez. Cesar was born on March 31, 1927. He grew from immigrant parents working as peasants. Since his childhood, he has been working for his living like his parents. During his years of work and co-existence with his fellow workers, he witnessed hard suffering with cheap wages from the farm owners. From his personal experience, he also witnessed the theft by farm owners from the workers. During the 1960s, the poor in America had many job opportunities in California. Workers had a minimum wage of $ 1.25 an hour, while اis fellow farmworkers received $ 90.0 an hour. Despite the harsh agricultural work carried out by farmworkers and degrading and dangerous working conditions plus the absence of fresh water and clean places. The workers were being paid for that low wage, living and settling in shacks constructed by the owners of the farms that served as farm camps. Farmworkers tried to stand up for good working conditions but were denied the right to vote or the right to organize and form trade unions to demand fair wages, decent housing, and other social rights. Cesar Chavez wanted to improve the lives of these agricultural workers. At that time, California had various working-class nationalities, but most were Hispanics. In his experience, Chavez was aware that their civil rights were being violated and that they had been forcibly forced by the need to work at very low wages, in unsafe working conditions. Initially, Chavez and his comrades were not allowed to form a union that would unite and speak their community name, while other non-Hispanic workers had the right to form unions, receive fair wages, and adequate housing as stipulated in the US Constitution. With the steadfastness of the workers, defamation campaigns and solidarity campaigns with each other, Chavez and his comrades were able to form and build the Union of Agricultural Workers’ Union, which had great political power as thousands of Americans supported the demands of agricultural workers. Over five years of strikes and sit-ins, the Agricultural Workers’ Union (UAW) was able to obtain the right to organize and recognize their demands. In 1975, they were given the right to form a union and also to vote or boycott elections for agricultural workers. Today, agricultural workers have the right to elect their own representatives and demand improved working conditions from within US parliamentary institutions. Chavez has never been forgotten. From 1962 until his death on April 23, 1993, Cesar worked to improve the lives of agricultural workers. The struggle of Cesar Chavez has become part of a national struggle to improve the lives of the poor, conducted voter registration campaigns, and expanded the civil rights of people who have been denied their rights.
In my opinion about the border situation, I don’t think that there are big improvements at the time but that doesn’t mean that it is impossible. Everyone can see the big increase of the immigrant’s arrival at the border that is trying to cross the border. They are all trying to seek a better life here in the USA. And we can see that the new American Administration doesn’t allow undocumented workers to enter the country. All these border situations were managed by Cesar Chavez at his time.

By reading of the third chapter of the History of the United
States and from my reading of the information on the Wikipedia website, I
have information about Cesar Chavez: – Cesar Chavez was born in Yuma,
Arizona, from a Mexican-American family of Mexican origin on March 31,
1927, and moved with his family to Brawley. In California as a migrant
worker after his father’s farm in Colorado failed, at the beginning of
his life he worked as a manual laborer in Delano and then in 1946 Chavez
joined the U.S. Navy and was sent to the training center in San Diego,
then married for the first time in 1948 to Helen Fabella, the second
time he was a son. D married Sylvia in 1950, and the third time he
married Linda in 1951, and in this praise, Chávez befriended two social
justice activists, Fred Ross and Father Donald McDonnell, both European
Americans, whose activities were primarily in Mexican society. The
American chávez helped Fred Ross establish a branch of the Community
Service Organization in 1952 in San Jose, and McDonnell presented
Chavez’s books, where Chavez wrote the biography of Saint Francis of
Assisi as well as wrote about the American entrepreneur John Lewis as
well as Eugene Debs and also wrote in the field of independence for
Mahatma Gandhi.
He participated in a community service organization
in which he helped workers where he was an American labor leader and
Latin American civil rights activist and worked with Dolores Huerta,
then co-founded the National Farm Workers Association and after a while,
the name of this association was changed to the United Farm Workers
Union (UFW). In early 1957, he moved to Brawley, opened a branch of the
organization there, worked with Mexican farmers and established an
employment committee in the Central Control Office, through which
unemployed farmers are registered and their names signed to prove their
desire to work, in 1959 I moved Chavez to Los Angeles and became the
national director of the Organization of American Unity officially, and
so Chavez became the most famous civil rights activist in Latin America
and american workers voted for him strongly, the goal of the
organization is to help those in need solve the social and economic
problems to raise the level of Chavez has set up several branches of the
organization throughout California, and eventually became the director
general of the entire organization, in 1961, resigned from his position
as director of the organization because he failed to achieve his goal of
Helping farm workers, He began to help farm workers with all his
energy, so he refused a job in the Peace Corps since during that period
he spent most of his time traveling between workers and immigrants to
prove the foundation and laws of the organization. Six months after his
strike, he staged a strike among rose farmers in McFarland, California,
against grape growers in the Delano area. The Philippine-American Union
and the Mexican-American Union united together and formed the organizing
committee for united farmworkers.
In 1966, Chavez and all those who
supported him made the pilgrimage 300 miles to Sacramento, their motto
was “Pilgrimage, Repentance, and Revolution”, and Chavez fasted for 25
days, during which he lost thirty-five pounds because of the suffering
of farm workers. In 1971, Chavez and food officials signed problems
against the agricultural union and the problems between the two unions
continued until 1973, and now Chavez is seen as a saint and sometimes as
a demon, but whether people love him and respect him or hate him, he
has had an impact on the organization The farmer because it was
previously not organized and has no specific objectives to try to
achieve, and between 1976 and 1988 there were some setbacks and changes
where there were some who opposed Chavez’s ideas based on reducing his
view of the UFW organization as a movement.
Chavez lived the life of
an immigrant, used unions and a progressive approach without any use of
violence to reach part of the American dream, and he received many
medals in recognition and honor for his efforts, and even after his
death, he received medals in honor of what he gave to Mexicans in 1988.
Grape farmers protest against the exposure of farmworkers to
agricultural pesticides and have fasted for 35 days in protest against
the use of pesticides and this fasting caused him many health problems.
Chavez
died on April 23, 1993, and was buried at the Chávez National Center on
the campus of the United American Farm Workers’ Headquarters in Kern
County. On the 22nd of his death, Chavez became a major historical
symbol of the Latin community, and many streets, schools, and parks were
named after him because his work changed a lot of union workers’
conditions for the better, and his birthday on March 31 became a federal
memorial holiday in California, after his death, was awarded the
Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1994 by President Bill Clinton, and in
2012 President Barack Obama appointed the Cesar Chavez National Monument
within the National Park.
From my reading of chapter three, I see
that the terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda on the United States
on September 11, 2001, have made the government increase internal and
border security measures, where it has stepped up police patrols and
operations on the 2,000-mile border with Mexico in order to Stop and
limit the immigration of Undocumented Mexicans to the United States of
America coming to work to improve their standard of living.
