Concert Attendance Report Academic Help

I’m working on a Art & Design exercise and need support.

You will need to attend a concert in one of the following genres, either on or off-campus: a Symphony Orchestra concert, a recital or a concert in the SJSU Music Concert Hall (such as the Listening Hour series or evening events), an Opera, a Choral Concert, a Musical or a Jazz concert in order to complete your report. You may NOT write about a “popular” music concert. As long as it is a symphony orchestra concert, opera, choir concert, musical, chamber music (small ensembles) or jazz concert, any event is OK. If you go to a ballet, musical theater production or “musical,” try to find a “professional” rather than “community” or children’s theater production. In any case, you must find a way to be able to see the orchestra at some point in the performance (they are usually in the “pit” – yes, that’s what it’s called).

The event you attend must be must be a concert and not background music playing at an event.

Your Assignment

Write the equivalent of a 2-3 page report giving a review of the concert you attended. Your review must include the following:

• What kind of listener were you at the concert? Why?
• What pieces were performed?
• What was the style of each of the pieces performed?
• What was the instrumentation of the ensemble playing?
• Draw out the seating arrangement of the instruments in the ensemble.

Analyze 3 pieces played during the concert using the following criteria from the course:

• Unity & Variety
• Structure of the Music
• Purpose of the Music
• Tempo
• Volume
• Rhythm
• Melody
• Harmony
• Form
• Historical Period

You don’t need to include all of these. Please choose those relevant to the concert you attend.
