In this hypothetical scenario, the family is a Christian family. The father is physically and verbally abusive to the wife and the teenage son is verbally abusive towards his little sister who is 11.
You have gathered from their assessment that the Father’s father was abusive towards his mother but his father is also a well respected pastor at the local church and has been married for over 45 years. In this scenario, the father has agreed to Christian counseling after pushing his wife a few weeks ago.
What, if any, scriptures would you direct the family to? Would you explore the origin of the father’s anger first or lean towards a discussion of his relationship with God? What advice would you have for the wife?
