Need help with my History question – I’m studying for my class.
Choose one of the biblical passages in the old testament. Write at least two paragraphs discussing potential receptions or misconceptions of that passage. If possible, try to cast your piece as an Onion-style news article. Your piece should demonstrate a basic understanding of the original meaning of the passage and how it can be recontextualized in inventive (or potentially humorous) ways.
Most of this assignment will be graded based on completion, but I will also reserve some points for the following elements that must be included:
1. Does your piece demonstrate a basic understanding of the passage in question?
2. Does your piece address a mode of reception for the piece?
Review the Babylon Bee article for some idea of this. Notice that the piece on Jeremiah 29:11 acknowledges that verse was originally targeted at an audience experiencing the Babylonian exile, but the piece humorously applies that context to modern-day reception of the passage (e.g. a regular guy tattooing it on himself).
