RESEARCH PAPER: Please pass trough grammarly the paper and send me the report of plagiarism

For the research paper, you are to chose a notable jazz musician from either the past or present, and study his/her life, art, and impact on society/culture. The paper is built in three installments which will be turned in on three separate dates. A quality research paper must also have a thesis (organizing argument) stating a proposition. The paper should begin with an introduction describing the person you chose, why you chose him/her, and stating your specific thesis. The middle of the paper will consist of background research on the music and culture pertaining to your chosen individual. The paper should end with a conclusion that revisits the original thesis, highlights what you learned through your research about the person you chose, and how the experience has impacted or altered your views about jazz, culture, and the world around you.

You must include a bibliography, showing that you used a variety of resources with at least 4 articles, books, and encyclopedias. You must include at least one of each of those. A good resource to start with is Oxford Music Online

you can use the Oviatt Database for music is at:

You may also find articles from jazz publications or other news publications online, but make sure to avoid websites such as Wikipedia or any website that does not cite its sources or provide credentials to show that its authors are experts in their subject.

The first part I need in one day or Installment #1

The research paper will be submitted in three installments. submit each installment as a separate document

  • Installment #1 (20 points): Students will submit the introduction of the paper (title, topic and the person related to your topic, why you chose this person and topic, and your thesis in bold print). This introduction may be anywhere from a few sentences to two pages in length, as long as the above requirements are met. Failure to submit an acceptable thesis (1st installment).
  • Installment #2 (30 points): Students will submit the background research/citation showing high-quality, relevant research sources and knowledge of proper citation procedures. Any source from which quotes or paraphrased material is taken must be cited, otherwise you are guilty of plagiarism, a serious academic offense (see to an external site. ). I need to see at minimum of four bibliography entires, each from a different types of source (book, article, internet article, interview, etc). Each of the bibliography entries must be cited in proper MLA-8 formatting. Help with MLA-8 formatting can be found here:… (Links to an external site.)See below for one example of how each of the four entries should be formatted: SOURCE:Stephen Holden. “Jazz: Miles Davis Quintet.” New York Times (1923-Current File), 2 Jan. 1982.QUOTE:“…grown into a tightly knit ensemble, whose strengths have more to do with textural nicety than with solo fireworks. The guitarist Mike Stern laid cool chordal groundwork for Mr. Davis’s solos and in his own solos bolstered Mr. Davis’s ideas with a distinctly trumpetlike timbre. The saxophonist Bill Evans, on the other hand, played it hot against Mr. Davis’s cool, for rich but subtle emotional contrasts. The drummer Al Foster worked effectively in a restrained light-funk style, and in the second set moved comfortably into a Spanish rhythmic mode.” (Holden, 11).ANALYSIS:Davis was extremely particular about his groups, and every band member’s contribution added up to help bring his vision to life (this can be anywhere from a sentence to a whole paragraph).
  • Final Installment #3 (50 points): Students will submit the entire research paper which will include the content from Installments 1 and 2, but now integrated into the paper. The idea is to elaborate on the content you have built in the first two installments and fill in the gaps with more research and your own thoughts.

It should include the following items.

  • Title Page
  • Introduction
  • Background
  • Conclusion
  • References

In this final installment is your paper, you should elaborate on your second installment which has some quotes and analysis already. If you follow that format, and continue to elaborate, you will naturally build the body of your paper.

In a nutshell, your paper as a whole should be a study of your choice musicians life, and their relevance to, and impact on the music world. Any parallels you can make that point to connections to any social issues, especially those we are still struggling with, would be definitely important to point out.

The conclusion should be mostly in your own words, and it should revisit the original thesis, highlight what you learned as a result of your research and interview, and describe in detail how the experience has affected your opinions or views of jazz and how it relates to the world around you.

By university standards, this paper is supposed to be a minimum of 2,500 words minimum (not counting the bibliography), in a common 12-point font. Content is the most important! If you paper is thin and it is obvious you did not put in any effort, your grade on paper will be marked down substantially. ( I will request a refund in other words)

Any discoveries of plagiarism will result in a failing grade for the paper and for the course. Please cite your sources and give credit where credit is due. ( I will request a refund in other words)
