Southern New Hampshire University Strategies of Multiple Revision Discussion In a discussion board, discuss the steps you plan on taking to revise your critical analysis essay. Use the reading from earlier in this module as guidance.
When discussing these steps, be sure to point to specific areas of your draft that you plan on revising based on your reverse outline as well as instructor feedback, and explain how you will approach that process this week.
Before you begin writing, please review the discussion rubric below to make sure you fulfill all of the required tasks in your response.
Your initial post should be three fully developed paragraphs (5-8 sentences each).
When responding to two others, explore their potential revision strategies and offer additional tips and support. Keep an eye out for revision practices that may need fine-tuning for their specific essays. If you’ve learned something new that will help you, note it! Offer your own support by identifying specific areas and strategies to support their revisions.
Your response posts should each be two fully developed paragraphs (5-8 sentences each).
As with the first discussion, be sure to check back on this forum throughout the week to see what others have posted to your thread, and respond to questions and comments in an engaging manner. These follow-up posts will vary in length.

Revision – Thu Apr 16 16:27

Over the time I have been writing this essay, I have learned a lot about writing essays and more specifically revision. I have learned how to create a good thesis statement, and how and where to restate the thesis statement. I also learned how revise my work and correct my grammar. I plan on using large scale revision to rework the themes and broader sense of the essay to help me reach my audience clearly and efficiently. I also plan on using small scale revision so as to have better grammar and punctuation.
My grammar has always been a part of my writing that has always been lacking. Not so much spelling mistakes but writing form and function have always been troubling for me. I tend to write how I speak which is a kind of open thought way of writing. This tends to me creating extreme run on sentences. It also creates the need for me to revise many times to clear up the main idea of my essay. Sometimes I will also revisit an idea from earlier in the essay in a part of the essay it doesnt belong. This creates a jumbled mess of ideas and words that make it harder to understand.
To combat this Ill need to use the large scale revision to put sentences where they belong. Ill also use multiple small scale revisions when analyzing to separate a run on sentence into multiple sentences. This will hopefully help the flow of my essay and create a well thought out idea. Sense the clarity was always a major issue, Ill use what I have learned to tighten up and make clear my ideas and points. The idea of my essay will hopefully come across much clearer due to the revision work I have done.

First off this has been one of the most difficult essays I’ve ever had to write. Writing is not one of my best talents so I have set aside extra time to give this essay my all. After a couple days of over thinking I finally came up with the perfect clearly stated thesis statement. I then realized so much more work to do.I have to start with large scale revisions and rewrite most of my body to make sure my main points support my thesis statement. Our instructor advised me to develop my supporting points, this is where I plan to start.
Our instructor also advised me to fill in the missing part of my conclusion. I didn’t notice I never expressed what I learned from the article. This means even though I read my essay over and over I missed critical information that affected my grade. I went over the rubric again even though it wasn’t suggested as a revision strategy. I found it helpful to make sure I included everything that was necessary. Therefore my next step will be fixing my conclusion.
Last but certainly not least I will use small scale revisions order to correct my miss spelled words and punctuation. I will find all my grammar and sentence fragment issues. I will use family members for peer reading. Due to the world issues there’s not much else to do anyway. Overall learning about revision has gave me a better understanding of writing critical analysis essays correctly. This has made me a more confident writer.
