I’m stuck on a History question and need an explanation.
1. Selecting a Topic
The origins of the Ottoman Empire
The demise of the Ottoman Empire
The fall of Constantinople
The origins of the Janissaries
Expansion of the Ottoman Empire into the Balkans
2. Forming a Thesis Statement
After selecting your topic, form a thesis statement, which is the controlling idea and blueprint for your paper. The purpose of your paper is to persuade the reader that your thesis is a valid one. Here is an example of historical thesis statement: Throughout the history of the Bell System, the United States government has made decisions that have greatly damaged the company’s operation and growth.
NOTE: Submit the assignment in the specified format. The submitted assignment consists of the topic, a tentative title, the thesis (what you intend to prove in the paper), and a short summary (200-300 words) of how you intend to prove your thesis by the end of the second week. I may return this assignment to you with comments for additional work to ensure that your proposed topic is “doable” in a 5-7 page paper. For example, a paper about the travels of Marco Polo to China in the 1200s would be acceptable. However, a paper about the rise, decline, and fall of Rome would not be as historians have written 300 to 1000 word books about this topic. I will also return the assignment for a redo if the submission is not in the approved format:
Format for assignment:
General topic of the paper:
Tentative title:
Tentative thesis (what you intend to prove in the paper):
Summary of the proposed paper (250-300-words)
