The purpose of the paper is to allow you to creatively apply some of the anthropological concepts and methodology that you have learned during the semester to the analysis of a body of data on a particular ethnic group. Your paper should include background information (early history, contact) on a cultural group of your choice and information on recent changes (within the last 10-15 years) that have impacted these people.

The rise of global trade and a global economy has led to many social, political and cultural changes among the world’s peoples. This process of globalization has intensified in recent years. Globalization is the process by which different peoples of the world’s nations and regions affect one another through face-to-face interactions, media, communication or the global economy. Much of the benefits of globalization have gone to the peoples of developed countries. Choose a particular ethnic group and examine the effects of globalization on their culture.

Your research paper must be at least 12 pages (double-spaced), with at least 15 sources for your bibliography. The term paper is designed to give you the opportunity to apply what you learned in class and your analytical skills to a particular topic. Your research will provide the information that you will use to compare and contrast knowledge, concepts and theories discussed in class. You will be graded on your ability to assemble a body of data (information) and critically think about and reflect on these issues. The paper should NOT be a descriptive report (a collection of facts).
